Code of Conduct

Welcome to Communities and Technologies 2019! We are a respectful, compassionate, understanding, inclusive, and international community and expect all conference delegates and community members to act in accordance with these values.

Fostering the free exchange of ideas requires our conference to welcome people from all backgrounds, with a diversity of viewpoints. We see the coming together of different ideas and values as a fundamental strength of our community, so all members must have the freedom to explore a wide range of ideas and topics. Toward that goal, C&T 2019 aims to create a space where every participant can express themselves without fear of judgement or harassment.

We are dedicated to inclusivity at our conference and will not tolerate any form of hate speech at our event. Under no circumstances do we tolerate harassment, intimidation, or abuse based on race, religion, ethnicity, language, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, physical or cognitive ability, age, appearance, or of any kind at our conference or affiliated events. Unsolicited physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, and bullying behaviours are also unacceptable. Delegates who engage in harassment, intimidation, or abuse will be removed from the conference at the discretion of the organisers.

If you would like to raise a concern, Conference Organisers and Student Volunteers are easily identified by their badges, and can be contacted to do so. If you would like to raise concerns anonymously, please contact the Equality, Diversity, or Inclusion Chair, Angelika Strohmayer or local arrangement chairs. We will follow-up all allegations as soon as possible.
